Arrival: So you've just arrived in Nyoi-Cho. Congratulations! You must be so excited about having your wish granted. Or maybe you're upset that the result wasn't quite what you expected? If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish...

Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out.

Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions.

Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all?

Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel!

Hopefully your fellow magi can stop you before you cause too much damage!

I sincerely doubt I'll be telling anyone how "awesome" they are, as it would take a lot to find someone that astounding.

What is a "movie?"

Movies! You know! Like Killer Koopas From Outer Space? Night of the Living Goombas? Attack of the 50-Foot Pihranha Plant?

Those sound like titles of nonsense books.

Nah!! They're my favorite movies ever! You sure you've never seen 'em? They're preeeeetty famous.

[Still not used to this 'not in the Mushroom Kingdom anymore' business, I see.]

[Lemmy gawks at Alice for a moment, his eyes slowly drifting out of focus as he processes this information.]

[Without warning, Lemmy proceeds to smack himself in the face with both hands. When he opens his eyes again, they're back to normal.]

[The room twists and spins around them, turning into a fancy, old-timey movie theater. Magic is awesome.]

Hmm.I knew someone who could do that at a whim too. He did that more in the past though.

I see. So you mean to say I can see one of these movies on that big screen there?

Yeah! Innit cool? And we can eat tons of popcorn, too!!

[And just like that, two giant tubs of popcorn appear, floating in midair.]

Pop...corn. I've heard of corn, but how do you make it pop?

[She's already putting one in her mouth, chewing thoughtfully.

[Sure enough, the lights in the theater are dimming.]

[Alice's voice lowers as there seems to be...things. On the screen.]

How is that happening?

It works like... um, I dunno how a microwave works, actually! Maybe it IS magic!

[Everything is magic now, obviously.]

Ooh! I know this one! There's like, a machine, and it's shining a light on these pictures that are moving really fast, right? And it's projecting on the screen! Cool, huh?

[Meanwhile, hordes of skeleton turtles are terrorizing innocents on screen.]

Really? A machine you say? Science must have advanced enough to allow such a thing. Am I to assume only the wealthy have access to this sort of thing?

Wealthy? Nah! There are movie theaters all over the place, and it only costs a coupla coins to get in! Do you really not have stuff like this where you're from?

[He can't imagine a world without cheesy horror flicks. Sounds like a horror flick in and of itself!]

No, we do not. Where I am from in London, it is very dirty and full of riffraff. The rich are usually entertained by the theater, but nothing like...this. This is far beyond the sort of innovation in my world.

I was not aware people could be brought here from different worlds.

Yeah, I know! I've been all over the Mushroom Kingdom using the warp pipes and all, but they could never take me to another dimension, ya know?

I am no longer there, so its stinks considerably less. I do not think I would have been allowed in public anyway, considering.

It's called the Mushroom Kingdom 'cause it's full of mushrooms! Even the people are mushrooms! Well, not ALL of them. I'm not a mushroom. Man, I'd hate to be a mushroom, they're all squishy and stuff!

Oh, sure, there's a lot of mushrooms around you can eat! Then there's REALLY big ones that people build houses out of! And there's even Princess Toadstool, but she's not a mushroom, she's a human! Like you!
