Speaking of that username, though... Rakuyo ie actually the Doll's summon weapon in her Magi form. I don't know how you'd feel about this idea, but it might make for a good adding-insult-to-injury type scenario if Maria found out that this doll not only has her face, but her weapon as well? Especially if Maria doesn't initially start out with Rakuyo.

Obviously I'd understand if you wanted her to have it, though! It's just an idea.

I think the Doll also having a Rakuyo will more interesting to Maria, than anything! It will drive home her disbelief that she has a duplicate-- duplicate face, duplicate weapon, but different personality. Honestly, once she comes to understand the nature of the Doll, she'll be very protective of her. I'm going the caretaker angle on Maria's characterization, but I'd love some input on other character aspects you've read into her lore!

No, I definitely think the caretaker angle is legit, it seems pretty clear by how she takes care of all the meatballheads that she's a genuinely caring and responsible person. A few of the people I've seen playing her don't pay that aspect of her personality enough heed, probably because of how ferocious a fighter she is, so I'm glad to see that you're going with that angle!

My only advice is... Don't forget how gross and disturbing the Doll's existence is. Both in general and from Maria's perspective. Gehrman made a creepy ~~sex doll~~ mannequin with her face on it after she died, and somehow brought it to life. And now she has to have a conversation with it - that's both pretty fucked up and also a lot to take in.

I'm definitely okay with them making friends eventually, of course (in fact, I am so excited for it, you don't even know) but initially I think the two will probably be (understandably) extremely uncomfortable with each others' existence.

Of course, that's just my two cents! Maria is your character, and I haven't really had the opportunity to look too deeply into her lore, so I will absolutely defer to you as to how she feels about this whole weird situation.

Howdy folks this is James and I've been thinking of bringing in a second and third character in this next round. I'm for certain bringing in everyone's favorite skeleton, Papyrus from Undertale, next round, but I'm thinking about a few other characters. Two of them are utter shitbags; the other is a decent and good man. I have a shitbag on reserve, but the more I think about it the less I think I'll do much with him. Either way, here we go, here's the characters I'm thinking of.

Asshole Number 1:
Johnny C./Nny from the comic book Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. As you can tell from the title, Johnny is as much of a bucket of fun as a schizophrenic, narcissistic, bipolar sociopath can be. He's pretty sure that reality for the most part is a delusion created by his own mind as an explanation for why he hasn't been caught for the murders he's committed, but really he hasn't been caught thanks to the protection that comes from being a support pillar for reality that's slowly helping free a Cthonic horror! Oooooh spooky! Anyway I'm thinking of bringing in this special evil snowflake because it's been years since I've played him proper and his own delusions about reality would be fucked with so badly here it isn't funny. He's also the most easily trolled and angered man in the world so have fun with that.

Asshole Number 2:
Lucifer from the Shin Megami Tensei series. Lucifer's hobbies include social darwinism, bar hopping, infecting teenagers with demonic parasites, and being the fucking devil. Lucifer is all about anarchy and social unrest in the hopes of unlimited freedom, which is really just the most dog eat dog fucking definite of the world that one could possibly imagine. Lucifer would hope to spread discord or find as many people who would align themselves to his promise of meritocracy and personal gain, because Chaos should always be what defines the world. I'd be taking Lucifer either from its child form from Nocturne or as Louisa from Strange Journey.

And finally the one nice person:
Rando from the indie RPG, LISA The Painful. Rando is a warlord in the womanless post-apocalypse, and is also the one guaranteed decent, warm human being there. He is also a massive pushover when it comes to making hard decisions and trying to trust the best in people. Also an amazing karate man with incredible karate skills.

Thinking between the three of these for my third slot, need help making a decision what do you all think.

But I also adore Lucifer and Rando. Why does your taste in characters have to be so good, James? Why can't you just play all the characters forever?

Also, anyone from the Devil Summoner series at all would be cool, but I would especially love to see the real Kyouji Kuzunoha, Rei Reiho, or the Soul Hackers protagonist.

As for the characters I'm considering, I'm currently stuck between the following four characters!

The first is the Demifiend from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. I'll probably be taking him from the TDE, so whereas he used to be a naive, helpful young man who's way too easily tricked into doing all the heavy lifting for his "friends," multiple betrayals have left him jaded and very angry.

The second is Jimmy Hopkins from Bully. He's not someone you want to get on the bad side of - he's short tempered, aggressive, and likes to talk with his fists. Despite that, though, he's not a bad guy.

The third is Simon James from The Double. He's timid, shy, and has no real presence. He's also cripplingly lonely. Disgusted by his life and desperate for change, he'll be coming to Nyoi-Cho after wishing for a chance to reinvent himself. Just like in his movie, this wish will have disastrous consequences for him, causing a separate persona, James Simon, to manifest. James is everything that Simon is not. He's charming, manipulative, take-charge.

The last is Ellen from The Witch's House. She's cruel, vindictive, and manipulative. She's also a little girl who just wants to be loved. Due to her harsh upbringing, however, she's adopted an incredibly twisted view of love: she thinks love is bending and twisting someone into becoming dependent on her.

I keep thinking about apping Ellen from a super early canonpoint and giving her Viola's body as part of her wish so that she can be super confused about Gary's everything while also not being completely irredeemably terrible.

I also think about maaaybe taking her post TWH or even CRAUing her for maximum terribleness though. I am an indecisive person.

MAX from Life is Strange.
Your normal every day 18 year old who suddenly discovered the ability to time travel. Max basically gets to be Homura, except she has a lot more fun along the way and a lot less tragedy as she goes.

UNDYNE from Undertale.
Super badass fish lady who will RUIN YOUR DAY if you're mean to her pals. By which I mean she's captain of the royal guard and is intensely loyal to all of her friends.

YUKI from Gakkou Gurashi (Ryslig CRAU)
Yuki is a mentally fragile girl living in a fantasy world: to her, everything is normal and she's actively going about her normal, every day life. To everyone else, well... Things are a little more grim. Yuki'd be coming from a few months in Ryslig with partial wendigo transformations.

ZOISITE from Sailor Moon.
Zoisite is a self-serving, egotistical little wretch who exists purely to further his own career and please his superior officer / lover. He's best known for actively and maliciously plotting the downfall of one of his co-workers and being one of the few Sailor Moon villains who was willing to throw down with the enemy one on one.

XION from Kingdom Hearts.
Xion's entire life is basically suffering. Nomura likes dead children, especially when they're also clones.

ZELOS WILDER from Tales of Symphonia (AU)
A prettyboy flirt who hates himself. Zelos is great fun. I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE HIM FROM THE KRATOS PATH OF ToS which I will not spoil but suffice to say it's bad times for Zelos.

Sandy Marko, Daughter of Marvel's "The Sandman" long standing Spider-man Villain. Sandy comes from a dark AU future where New York has succeeded from the United States and instituted martial law. Superheroes are long gone and metahumans are hunted down and arrested or worse.

I would be bringing her CRAU style so she'd have her memories from

thegames Where she's basically been abducted and forced to compete in the hunger games. She's died there like...twelve times. She's currently my most likely candidate because she's a familiar character to me, buuuut I'm open to other options.

Like...

Kim Pine from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The world. She hates everyone including you and I think her wish would be something stupid like "I wish they would all shut up." when referring to her various room mates, friends, and assorted people who bug the hell out of her. If she were here I would likely give her bard like powers since drumming and gothic lolita fashion are her passion.

or...

Mako Mankanshoku from Kill La Kill. Energetic, loud, a never ending supply of support and non sequiturs. I'm not entirely sure what her wish would be for but I can't imagine it would be for something all that important. She's pretty easy going and after a particular experience where her family got wealthy but lost their love, she's reaffirmed her appreciation for what little she is. Then again she is still super greedy so she might have wished for cash.

And finally...

An old favorite of mine that I haven't dusted off in a few years. Beastboy from the Teen Titans cartoon show. A shape shifting goof ball who relishes his life as a super hero and is often the butt of most jokes, sometimes even his own. BB was my first LJRP muse so I'm very confident in how I play him...and I would probably think it's funny to put him in a magical girl skirt every time he wants to access his powers.

But I have a lot of muses and depending on who else shows up maybe I'll get inspired a different direction.
