Arrival: So you've just arrived in Nyoi-Cho. Congratulations! You must be so excited about having your wish granted. Or maybe you're upset that the result wasn't quite what you expected? If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish...

Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out.

Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions.

Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all?

Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel!

A Corrupted Soul Gem: You neglected to take care of your soul gem, and now you don't feel quite yourself anymore. You feel like you're losing your sense of self - all you seem to be able to focus on is your old regrets and past failures. What's happening to you?

As if in response to your masterful victory, you feel as though you've unlocked a new power. What sort of power did you get? Is it a useful one, or is it not so useful? Maybe you've mastered it beautifully, and now you're showing off to all of your friends. Maybe you're having a hard time keeping it under wraps, and now you're wreaking havoc across the town without meaning to!

A Dreadful Nightmare: You had an absolutely horrid day. As you drift off to sleep, your mind dwells on all the injustices you've had to endure. In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. What sort of Nightmare are you? What kind of Nightmarescape do you create? Hopefully your fellow magi can stop you before you cause too much damage!

What happened? Are you hurt? Do you remember anything??

I'm fine. I was just... coming back from fighting a Nightmare.

[Which escaped from him and left him like this.]

Sure I do. I remember that Sorey won't remember me anymore again. I also remember that Edna's no better than Sorey now which leads me to believe that I'm just destined to lose the people I care about. I'm always the one waiting for a miracle that never comes.

[Mikleo, stop...]

...Mikleo...

[She looks at him, frowning. Something about his words...his demeanor...]

You'll find a way to bring them both back, I'm sure of it.

It didn't work the last time; Not with my help anyways. What's the chances of Sorey coming to his senses a second time? And even if he does, he still won't remember a while. What use is my wish anyways when he's stuck here with no memories...?

And what about Edna..? Has Eizen really been saved? Is there really a way to reverse the dragon transformation process? In the end, our wishes were for naught.

But he did once. That means he can again, right?

[She stops herself. This kind of talk, this kind of negativity...]

Mikleo? Can I see your Soul Gem?

But what good is it if he doesn't remember? How many times do I have to try to be brave enough to tell him the things that were hard to confess in the first place?

[Bringing his hand to his forehead, he pushed back his bangs in frustration. Maybe partially because of the emotions he was feeling right now and partially because she'd asked to see his soul gem. And just as she might have guessed, his soul gem on his circlet that was a nice light blue shade was now muddy and dim.]

...I know its hard. Even if I can't understand your relationship with Sorey...

[She looks left, then right, before she summons her bright and clean Soul Gem from her ring, bringing it up close to his Gem. She feels her Gem tug at the impurity in his, something he might no doubt feel as well. It won't absorb it all, not anywhere near it, but perhaps it might be enough to make him feel better.]

I can understand the frustration of...not being able to help people...

[Normally he would have known what was going on. But this managed to take him by surprise for a brief moment once she brought her soul gem close to his.]

[And feel it he did. There was still some impurity no doubt, but it was at least enough to get some sort of response besides grief and regret. He reached for her hand as if to try to make her stop.]

Madoka I... I'm sorry. No more.

No, its ok...I promise.

[The light of her own Gem is noticeably dimmer now as it recedes, and she clasps his hand when it comes to her. She of course can't take it all, no matter how much she wants to.

She smiles, though her eyes are not quite as bright as they had been even a few seconds before. Its a smile tinged with sadness.]

I can't take it all. I can help a little, though.

[And there's his concern. At least he's more lucid now... but now he had to reflect on his own actions. She wouldn't have had to if he hadn't.... lost himself to the darkness.]

I'm sorry. I guess I'm just.... adjust again. [And though her efforts did help, there was still that underlying doubt and grief. It wasn't likely to just... completely go away. At least, not like that.] I didn't realize it had gotten that bad.

...It does sneak up, doesn't it? But, if...you want? We can fight a Nightmare together. It should help, right?
