I guess you've probably mistaken me for somebody else, but that just says there's more than one person out there with that opinion of you. If you're surprised, you shouldn't be.

I'm trying to move past my bullcrap. That's not me looking for forgiveness, I know I'm beyond that for what I did.

...Didn't pay attention to the feelings and needs of my best friend here. Got too caught up in the past to the point where it seemed that was all I cared about.

...It wasn't. It's just...it never feels like there's anything good about me at all. But the people in Mayfield, they saw something and I don't know what it is. And a lot of times, it feels like the only way there is good in me is to act like the way I think would make them proud. When I do good, it's thanks to them. When I screw up, that's when the real me shines. It's not that I didn't care; it's that without focusing on that past, I dunno if I'm worth shit.

But I screwed it up anyway, and hurt a dude that never did any wrong I really cared about. But he's pretty much shown that he doesn't want to self-destruct along with me. So I have to get my ass to stop that fuse for my own sake, cause if I don't do it for myself like hell I can for others.

Let me guess: you thought I was this best friend you're going on about. I'll make this clear: I'm not him, and I'm not trying to speak for him. I've got no idea what he thinks, but if he was willing to put up with you for that long he's probably a good deal more tolerant than I am.

Or maybe he's just spineless.

Anyway, reading that pissed me off, so I'll just say it straight out:

Not convinced you're not all talk and this isn't just an attempt at saving your own ass in a public place 'cause you thought I was him, though.

Don't really care if you're convinced or not. There's no real saving face with the dude at this point, so what do I care.
