If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish...

Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out.

Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions.

Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all?

Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel!

In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. What sort of Nightmare are you? What kind of Nightmarescape do you create? Hopefully your fellow magi can stop you before you cause too much damage!

[Well this is... bizarre. Rose narrows her eyes slowly, unsure of if this is a trick or not. Another timeline would make sense, and the only thing making her distrust herself is the vaguely devious nature of the white cat creature that had brought her here in the first place.

She's going to get to the bottom of this.]

I can only presume. Based on your outfit, you hit god tier as well, which means you probably escaped the scratch. What's the last thing you remember from your timeline?

[ Rose looks away. If she's beating herself up so much over her own decision, she expects her other self to have the same reaction. ]

I asked the white ... thing [ was it a cat? ] to speed up the next three years a bit. I'm not sure whether this was the intended effect.

[Speeding up the next three years sounds like she must have been pre-meteor. Why else make that sort of wish?]

Interesting. So... I suppose you're a past version of me, then. Who has been aged up to sixteen without having the experiences on the meteor, if your wish is anything to go by.

I am not sure how we are co-existing right now, but stranger things have happened.

Maybe if we make contact, we'll both disappear. [ Her own movie reference causes her to smile a bit, and she relaxes. ]

So you're from my future. Or a possible future, if I've now changed mine. I don't suppose you could tell me what I missed?

Best not risk it, then. [She gives a small smile as well, though it's a little harder for her to relax.]

Not much happened, in truth. You were right to wish it done sooner. We traveled for three years. Dave managed to create a facsimile of a micro-blogging platform in the dreambubbles. That's honestly the biggest highlight I can think to mention.

[Would she be able to tell if she was lying to herself? A psychological question for the ages.]

[ She can tell when lies of omission are happening, that's for sure. Or suspect. She raises an eyebrow, a practiced gesture over her baker's dozen years of life. ]

Is being away from internet wearing on him that much? Pity. [ Not that she can blame him. She obviously had jumped at the chance to merely skip over those three years. ]

I will admit, it would be nice to get to know the trolls better. But I didn't relish the idea of leaving John and Jade alone for that long.

[Well, her past self is certainly suspicious, and it isn't as though Rose can very well blame her. That doesn't mean that she's about to spill the beans, though.]

Yes, I have missed them dearly. And I will say that bonding with the trolls was also quite the enlightening experience, though even their charming alien antics get dull after the first year or so. Looking back, I am unsure whether or not I would choose to fast-forward like you chose to.

[On the one hand, it means she loses her connection with Kanaya, and the memory of watching Dave and Karkat fight over a dick drawing. On the other hand, it means never having an addiction in the first place, and not having to witness Gamzee destroying Terezi's sense of self second-hand. It's a toss-up.]
