![]() Prompts Arrival: So you've just arrived in Nyoi-Cho. Congratulations! You must be so excited about having your wish granted. Or maybe you're upset that the result wasn't quite what you expected? If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish... Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out. Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions. Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all? Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel! A Corrupted Soul Gem: You neglected to take care of your soul gem, and now you don't feel quite yourself anymore. You feel like you're losing your sense of self - all you seem to be able to focus on is your old regrets and past failures. What's happening to you? A Successful Mission: Congratulations! You met up with your first Witch, and you fought valiantly. For your efforts, you've been awarded a grief seed - and with it, access to a brand new power! What sort of power did you get? Is it a useful one, or is it not so useful? Maybe you've mastered it beautifully, and now you're showing off to all of your friends. Maybe you're having a hard time keeping it under wraps, and now you're wreaking havoc across the town without meaning to! A Dreadful Nightmare: You had an absolutely horrid day. As you drift off to sleep, your mind dwells on all the injustices you've had to endure. In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. What sort of Nightmare are you? What kind of Nightmarescape do you create? Hopefully your fellow magi can stop you before you cause too much damage! Wildcard: Feel free to use any information from the FAQ or the World Info page to make your own prompt! |
Re: The Plain Doll | Bloodborne
[There was much in her head right now. Between Kyuubi and this town of strange people, Alice was learning fairly quickly that what she expected and what she got were never to meet. Moreover, the people who inhabited this place would be of no help, so it was better to seek someone who had made a wish.
Right now, this girl seemed interesting enough to talk to, albeit very...off in a way].
Many things. Firstly though, it is only right to introduce ourselves. What are you called, Miss?
no subject
What am I called? [She repeats the question, as though that will make her complete lack of a name any easier of an answer to give.] I am but a doll, good Magi.
[There. A description of what she is isn't really an answer, and the Doll feels a little guilty about that. Perhaps a little bit more elaboration, then?]
I was given no name by the ones who made me. Or if I was, I no longer remember it.
Was there something you would like to call me, good Magi?

[Alice gave the "doll" a look. There was no love lost between dolls and Alice: in her last adventure, dolls were her enemies, and the dollmaker himself a perverse, horrid creature with ill intentions and a bleak outlook on how children were bought and sold. Despite this revulsion, Alice knew that this person was NOT the doll she was used to back him. If anything, she even looked like she could be from Alice's own time.
That, at least, was comforting.
"My name is Alice," she finally replied, "and better that way: there has been nothing good about me a long time, and Magi refers to something entirely different in my world. Still, I am happy to meet someone not like these people. As for a name, well, it has been a long time since I have met someone decent enough to borrow their namesake. I think, though, Ada will suit you."
no subject
"Ah, Alice, then." She says, bowing her head apologetically. "I did not mean to offend, it is just... In this place, I was told that those who make wishes and hunt nightmares are called Magi. It is strange for me, to exist in a place without Hunters. I am... trying to adjust."
"Ada is a fine thing to be called, thank you," she says, making a mental note of the name. It isn't her true name, of course, she simply doesn't have one. But for interactions with this girl, the name 'Ada' will do just fine. Her expression doesn't show it - her face is entirely incapable of movement - but it's clear from her voice at least that the Doll is pleased with this turn of events.
"Perhaps it is not my place to ask such things, Miss Alice, but I wish to know: You say that you are happy to meet someone unlike the people here. Have these kind folks done something to displease you?"
no subject
"I see. I suppose I will have to get used to it too, but I prefer my own name. It is one of the few things in my world I was able to keep."
She certainly didn't have her "effects" with her right now.
"They are, for lack of a better term, cattle," Alice said simply. "They do not think for themselves, or at least do not show signs of wanting to think of anything unpleasant. I find it unnerving."
no subject
"Cattle?" Her voice is curious, if a little... put off by Alice's claim. Perhaps the Plain Doll simply does not know humanity that well, but she had seen nothing wrong with the way these citizens were acting. In fact, she had liked how happy they all seemed to be - and why wouldn't they be? They live in a world where wishes apparently come true, the greatest hardships (these nightmares) is a reversible state of being, and a group of saviors has just arrived out of nowhere to save them all.
"Perhaps, if you see them that way... I do love them, though. And I cannot fault them for being the way they are."
no subject
"They can be how they like," Alice said. "They could be vain, or ugly, or sweet as can be: the fact is, we are tasked with protecting them, so that is what we have to do. For the moment, they do not offer much to me in how I can live in this world, so for now they are merely background folk."
Alice thought a moment. "You mentioned hunters in your world. Are we similar to those, then?"
