Arrival: So you've just arrived in Nyoi-Cho. Congratulations! You must be so excited about having your wish granted. Or maybe you're upset that the result wasn't quite what you expected? If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish...

Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out.

Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions.

Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all?

Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel!

As if in response to your masterful victory, you feel as though you've unlocked a new power. What sort of power did you get? Is it a useful one, or is it not so useful? Maybe you've mastered it beautifully, and now you're showing off to all of your friends. Maybe you're having a hard time keeping it under wraps, and now you're wreaking havoc across the town without meaning to!

A Dreadful Nightmare: You had an absolutely horrid day. As you drift off to sleep, your mind dwells on all the injustices you've had to endure. In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. What sort of Nightmare are you? What kind of Nightmarescape do you create? Hopefully your fellow magi can stop you before you cause too much damage!

[ Good call! Once they've been sliced and diced small enough they start to scatter, save for one that attempted to burrow into Alice's leg out of spite.

Harley on the other hand was jogging back swinging her hammer trying to crush the little black slugs making their escape. They were surprisingly agile however.]

Stop. Dodging. Me. You. Jerks!

[Alice had to take a moment to watch Harley in dumbfoundment. She was unsure how to deal with Harley's strange enthusiasm].

Are you all right? Doing them all in, then?

[ Harley had to take a moment to catch her breath as the black slug like creatures squirmed away.]

T-too fast...ugh. Just wait till I get my hands on some salt I'll show them who's the bigger bug!

[ Leaning on her hammer panting she smiled thankfully Alice's way.]

You know not so many people actually remember the term harlequin anymore in my world. It's nice to find someone who appreciates the classics.

...eh I'm probably just remembering it wrong. See back home there's this creep, Jervis Tetch? Calls himself "The Mad Hatter" and likes to do this whole Alice in Wonderland theme? Complete with calling his victims Alice. Total ick factor. He's one rogue I don't miss from the old Asylum.

[Go ahead Alice, take a moment. That's probably a lot to take in.]

I prefer the classical where I can. I find this world has a dim appreciation of them.

Hmph. A pretender, then. If he met the REAL Mad Hatter, being in an asylum would be the least of his worries.

[That's enough to make Harley raise an eyebrow. Sure they're in the middle of a nightmare but they can spare some time to chat. It's not like everyone's waiting on them to save the day.]

Like, very merry unbirthday, tea time with the March Hare and Dormouse Hatter? How dangerous are we talking here?

Quite unlike the merry, mad chap you know about in the books. He was like that once, but let us say he was not at his best.

Before our fight, he was turning humans into automatons and had hideously disfigured his companions for tea. Needless to say, I dispatched him.

He got better, apparently.

Gross.

[ That seems to sum him up pretty well as Harley's imagination runs wild with images of disfigurement and robotizing humans. But this Alice seems like if she dispatched him once she'd dispatch him again.]

Yeah that's...not too far off from mine actually. See he uses these brain control things to make people his puppets right? And sometimes he'll mess em up or make them see things he wants them to see. But he always has to have some pretty blond thing at his parties.

[ From the dry sound of her voice and how blond her hair is you can probably put two and two together on that one.]

Let's make a deal. If we find any kinda hatter around here we smash and slash first and ask questions never.

Repugnant. Perhaps I should be thankful he is not so fixated on me. Of course, I am also not blonde.

[She shook her head].

Agreed. The two sound equally odious in nature.

Naw, but that wouldn't stop him he'd just get you a wig or make ya bleach your hair. It's best to let a professional handle that though.

[She gives her own ponytail a little twirl.]

Yeah now that I think about it...what is it about Hatters being such creeps? The guy in the movie wasn't so bad! That's why they got that cutie pirate actor to play him in the remake right? Eh...whatever.

I would be forced to feed the wig to him then.

Hatters are supposed to be unpredictable, frenzied. Mad. I cannot imagine a "cutie" being associated with him in any way.

But why though? What is it about the job of making hats that drives men mad?
