There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out. Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions. Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all? Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel! There's a thought I didn't want. It was bad enough when my brother was doused with some weird gas in an attempt to turn him into an Inhuman and he started shooting lasers from his hands.

It does kinda take all the fun out of being out on your own I guess if they're telling you how to hero safely.

I got to meet my dad once for a short bit in the last world. He seemed pretty proud of me though. So maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

...not mom though. She hated superhero stuff. She didn't even like me reading about the old heroes.

That's lucky for your dad. If you were away from your dad for a while then seeing him would be good and all. My parents know about my superheroing now, but they still get upset when I get a B in science.

Sounds like your life was crazy even without the super heroics. Do you at least like your err...sister in law?

Oh she's amazing. She's a nerd and geek like I am, she likes my brother and my family, AND she's read all of Dune and hated the movies.

She's PERFECT.

Well that's good! I mean wedding's are busy and hectic but at least she's a nerd.

Quick question though: What's Dune about?

Yeah, well she's gonna live at the house during all of this until my brother graduates. My parents are thrilled cause tradition.

As for Dune, it's about a distant future set in a feudal interstellar society. It's got stuff bout politics, religion, and this stuff called spice. It's pretty great, though the J Anderson novel is terribad.

Wait...so the novel is terribad but she hated the movies? I mean it sounds cool, distant futures and stuff.

And no the New novel is terribad and the movies are atrocious but the original novel run was awesome.

OK so when I go to the library tomorrow I'll look for the older one.

Who knows they might actually have it. This library is weird. I even found a comic book with dad and Spider-man in it. And old one like...super old. The colors look like dots.

That sounds pretty old actually. And yeah, look for the original Dune. Nothing with Kevin J Anderson on it.

Heh...this is also not the weirdest order I've gotten from a big time super hero.

Stark actually taught me how to pour him drinks before he gave me this mini speech about how I wasn't doing myself any favors by trying to be tough when things were tougher then me.

[That wasn't even the gist of the speech but Sandy was feeling a little bitter at him.]

You know he stopped drinking right? Back in the 90s?

Well apparently this one didn't get the memo.

Either that or he figured being stuck in Panem was the best excuse to start again. I learned more about bartending then I did about superheroing from him.

Guess not. It's kind of depressing to know he's still drinking. Things got pretty bleak for him back when he was quitting.

[ Ugh, now she feels guilty for enabling him.]

To be fair...things were pretty damn bleak where we were. Most of the Avengers were dead by the time I left...I don't know if dead forever but...I mean we lost a lot of them. The last one I saw still active was The Falcon.

Well I guess that would make sense... on some level I guess. [Poor Tony.] Sam was around?

We had Tony, Steve, Sam, two different Natasha, Bruce, Three different Bucky...this blue mutant guy named Kurt, Charles, Loki and Thor.

[She sighs here looking decidedly gloomy now that she's dragged up all those names.]

None of them from my crappy future, and none of them were still around by the time I got caught.

That's a lot of people that I know and have met in the last six months. Mostly. I've only met like one X-Man and that was Wolverine. I even have the selfie to prove it.

A fanclub? Right now I've got an angry mob, but that's because of really dumb reasons. At least it's not as bad as Spider-man angry mobs.
