[ Like so many others in this school, Bullworth had been a Last Chance for Dirk Strider. As it had been outlined by his brother('s legal team, not the man himself, he was far too busy halfway across the planet filming another esoteric mockery of consumerist culture for a niche audience of about thirty people) this was where he was to wait out the rest of his highschool days. No accelerated learning, no contact with his friends, only a stiff warning and the promise of swift punishment should he chose not to heed it.

And, of course, he didn't.

But he wasn't stupid enough to get caught. He could hack the school system, change grades, attendance records, anything he set his mind to he could pretty much have fucking done. The school was dismal and the students ran this fucking anarchy, the teachers were lying to themselves if they thought they had any of it under control.

As for Dirk, he was cliqueless. Too jockish to be a nerd, too nerdy to be a prep, too apathetic to be a bully, too modern to be a greaser, and too god damn Texan to be anything close to a townie. Anyone who tried to mess with him was spitting their teeth out on the ground. He didn't associate much with anyone who wasn't there for something, and the few people he was friendly with could be marked off on one hand. It wasn't by choice - people either found him intimidating and steered clear, or they found him weird and stayed further away. He was lonely, a social creature with none of the skill to make it happen, but admitting that in the hell that was Bullworth wasn't going to go anywhere good.

Jimmy catches him as he's heading out of the library, looking up at the sound of another voice like he hadn't expected to hear it. And he hadn't - all he can think is there's another school wide holiday he'd ignored, as staying in the dorms was preferred to returning home to an empty apartment. ]
