Alice had a rather dim perception of people,of humanity in general. It had something to do with being in the asylum, and a bit more with her life outside of it, working amongst the dregs of society, which Alice only regarded a little higher than the stuck up prigs that made up what was considered the "better" of London. All in all, people did not impress Alice, and though she knew it was her mission to protect these ones here, no one had said she needed to like them.

"They can be how they like," Alice said. "They could be vain, or ugly, or sweet as can be: the fact is, we are tasked with protecting them, so that is what we have to do. For the moment, they do not offer much to me in how I can live in this world, so for now they are merely background folk."

Alice thought a moment. "You mentioned hunters in your world. Are we similar to those, then?"
