(To say Asgore never expected to find himself in a place like this is an understatement. His wish hadn't mentioned coming up to the surface at all, yet here he is: in a quaint little city with lots and lots of humans who...don't seem intimidated by the large goat-like monster at all. In fact, their downright friendliness help him set aside his initial concerns for now. A few greetings are met with a hearty "howdy" and return a smile to his face. He knows it'd be best to ask about this place, what it's like and where that friendly little monster who made the "contract" ran off to. If anyone would know anything about this place, it'd be him. And probably the locals.
Though it's a lot for the king to take in at once. It's the first time in a long time that he's seen the surface, so his eyes are naturally skyward and his demeanor relaxed, despite having such an imposing figure, with his rather large size (taller than the humans, at least) and combination of cape, armor and crown that give off the sense of royalty and power. His friendly demeanor might suggest otherwise, though given his current status of smiling at a bird that landed on his finger, he's probably safe to approach.
Probably.)
Corrupted Soul Gem
(It's almost too natural for the king under the mountain to fall back into his pool of regrets. He's made far too many in his long, long life. The soul gem corruption doesn't even register in his mind; as far as he's concerned, it's simply another day when Asgore's past has caught up with him.
Not once has Asgore ever been able to outrun his past.
The proud king practically sinks into himself, his head hanging low as he stares down at a bed of flowers in the park. None of them are golden, but it serves its purpose of reminding him of his past, something that further dampens the monster's mood and color of his soul gem.)
A Successful Mission
(Despite being a natural pacifist, Asgore's gift for combat is unmistakable. He's well trained, versatile with the trident in his hands and surprisingly nimble for a man his size. To see the king standing on the frontline, fighting alongside other magi is almost inspirational. After all, a true king leads from the front; not from the back.
...But there's something to be said about his magi attire, which seems far more casual than his traditional armor and cape. Hell, at least outfit has armor. The colorful Hawaiian shirt doesn't sway the nightmare, however, and it falls quickly. Asgore's serious demeanor quickly shifts back to a smile as the nightmarescape fades and color returns to his soul gem. With the trident standing beside him, his free arm wipes the sweat off of his forehead and he chuckles.)
Well, it seems that's finally over. How about we celebrate this victory with a nice cup of tea?
