Arrival: So you've just arrived in Nyoi-Cho. Congratulations! You must be so excited about having your wish granted. Or maybe you're upset that the result wasn't quite what you expected? If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish...

Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out.

Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions.

Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all?

Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel!

In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. What sort of Nightmare are you? What kind of Nightmarescape do you create? Well, that's disappointing.

[ Booo. They're actually human? That just made it pointless to kill them, thanks Nny. ]

Maybe you just got unlucky and caught the one human. Don't give up hope!

But what makes a human? Is it the way they bleed when they're stabbed?

Earlier, you said that these people behaved in ways that showed their lack of humanity. Regardless of how they look, regardless of the blood flowing through their veins... That remains unchanged, does it not?

It's the law of the land!

[ This girl is a creep. But like a certain weirdo in spandex Etna can feel her danger senses tingling. The problem is just that she doesn't know why. It's not like she's not used to fighting. ...She probably just hates being back to level one. ]

Just try me and see what happens, little girl. I'll show you why the entire Netherworld fears the Demon Lord Etna.

[ She's taking up a fighting position, about to summon her spear if she has to.... but this really isn't the place to be fighting. Not that a demon like Etna cares. ]

[A thin snort escapes from Nny, lips curling back in annoyance at Chara's statement, turning his head away a little.]

Disdain doesn't begin to cover the loathing I have for people.

[He shrugs his stick thin shoulders, a gesture that barely even seems human. The man is like a grasshopper wearing a man sized costume.

He ignores Chara's question for the moment - really, it's a point that he has to think on more because while he's rather certain he knows what makes a human a human, he also knows that reality and perception doesn't mean shit. No.

He just eyes Chara a little more closely.]

You're rather brooding for a child, aren't you? Kids tend to ask a lot of fucking questions, but not exactly the type you are.

[He waves his little hand a bit, blood splattering off of it and onto the concrete as he glances at Bonnie.]

No, not right now. I'm sure they'll give me ample enough reason to kill them later. And it's getting late. It's almost TV time. I'm not really certain what I'm going to watch on it here, just certain that my head will explode if I don't ingest a certain amount of it soon.

[Chara's reply is instantaneous.]

Is that a problem?

Well, it really depends I guess! Or, really, it doesn't! Rather, I guess it depends on the way that it is a problem!

[Johnny just smiles a bit. It isn't a pleasant expression by any means. It's a smile that any sane person, upon seeing it, would start to walk away, a combination of manic and not altogether there. He hunkers down on his legs a bit, making it easier to have direct eye contact with Chara.

If this is a sign of respect for the child, or just because Johnny in his paranoia now doesn't trust the child enough NOT to keep an eye on them, is anyone's guess.]

I don't hurt kids - well, not anymore, they make terrible furniture you wouldn't believe how uncomfortable that chair was - so it's not like I can threaten you outright for that! I suppose the problem is the way you seem to be going if you're really this darkly interested in the things you seem to be. I'm not going to say you should be an idiot and just drown yourself in stupid diversion and nonsense, not going to demand how you should be outside playing baseball or doing whatever outdated shit people demand children should do so they can continue to live vicariously through them. But really, there's certain paths you don't want to go down! Things you don't want to know. Because that's how you end up like me.

Really, I'm not sure how I got how I am! It's a real bitch and a half, honestly, to not fucking know why you're as smashed in your fucking skull as you are.

Really, there's the chance you're me! Just another voice from me, reflected because I have to impose myself on everything I fucking see. I mean, it would make sense right? New place new way to delude myself now that the usual peanut gallery is gone and what kind of child DOES talk like that are you me?!

[He doesn't outright lunge at Chara, more like he leans forward in a snapping motion, thin hand darting out to try and grab Chara's hair to bring them closer to him. To look him in the eye.]

Oh, but I can figure. I certainly wanted to give it a try myself, to see if they'd even so much as scream. That part's fine, but I can't help but wish they were at least a little less human. They're useless the way they are now.

[ Unless there was a scientist in the town that could use their brain for something, but. Maybe that'll come later. The little girl gave a dreamy sigh, glancing down at the small amount of blood that had found it's way onto her shoe. It even looked like the same blood she'd have. Not special in the slightest. ]

Such a shame! You're definitely a lot more entertaining than any television show could hope to be. Certainly a lot more informative.

[Chara doesn't flinch. They don't turn away, and they don't move an inch. They just calmly meet Nny's gaze, a contemptuous expression on their face.]

[ With how her own experiences in recent nightmares have gone, Ryoko definitely has gotten the feel of how frightening one can be, and what it can do in the proceeding days. More importantly. Though she didn't know Anise that well, it seemed as if she was having a little bit of a problem.

Ryoko spoke calmly, worried about what the response might be. ]

Are all the children here bloodthirsty?

[Really, he gets that he should probably be bothered by this - really, hearing anyone say they agree with his actions makes his stomach a little queasy - but he's actually more intrigued at the moment than anything.]

It's like I've ended up in the Village of the Damned. Most children your age would be terrified or running. But you and the other one I encountered were just interested.

[Sorry Chara, Johnny didn't quite catch that. That is, unless what you said was 'grab me by the shoulders and shout in my face', because that's what this weird little ferret man is doing right now Chara. Any sense of personal space that Johnny might have understood before is shattered in entirety now - his face isn't so close it's touching Chara's, but it's close.]

What the hell is wrong with you? All I did was ask a fucking question is it really that hard to answer it or are you just spiting me you rude, rude little Chucky looking fuck! It's a yes or no question now answer the fucking thing!

[Again, they make no indication that they're unsettled by Nny's increasingly erratic behavior. From the look on their face, though, it's obvious that they're growing angrier with each word that spills forth from Nny's mouth.]

[And in a burst of light, they've activated their magi transformation. Another, smaller flash of light from their hands indicates they've summoned their weapon - a short knife, pointed directly at Nny's stomach.]

Oh no, not all of us. Some of us are just a little more used to worlds like this than others.

[ Who is the other child, she's wondering. Well, there's no need to think about it too hard, probably. ]

It's not a prank, but I can't guarantee you're not being watched. [ bonnie no ]

I'm not sure how this world is much different from others, aside from the fact that people are more polite here.

[He says that with all seriousness, all sincerity.]

[Nny doesn't let go of Chara immediately, but his ferocity is at least toning down a little.]

[He finally gets at least one of his hands off Chara, nudging it under his own chin as he observes the child. What a rude gesture. After all, Johnny was just asking a question.]

[Chara lowers the knife ever so slightly.]

[ Slinging an arm around Madoka's shoulder, grinning at her. ]

I just feel bad if I head home before dawn. The second it starts getting dark out I want to be on those streets makin' sure everybody's okay.

[ Sayaka shrugs. ]

So homework falls to the wayside is all.
