![]() Prompts Arrival: So you've just arrived in Nyoi-Cho. Congratulations! You must be so excited about having your wish granted. Or maybe you're upset that the result wasn't quite what you expected? If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish... Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out. Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions. Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all? Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel! A Corrupted Soul Gem: You neglected to take care of your soul gem, and now you don't feel quite yourself anymore. You feel like you're losing your sense of self - all you seem to be able to focus on is your old regrets and past failures. What's happening to you? A Day in the Life: Everyday hero by day, magician by night! You've got a busy day ahead of you and no time to waste! Maybe it's school, or maybe it's work, maybe it's both! Being magical doesn't make you exempt from paying those shopping bills! May Day: Uh-oh. This magical girl stuff looked easier on TV. You're in some serious trouble! Or maybe you see someone else who is! It's time to pull up your socks and show them what you have. Be the hero you've always wanted to be, or give in and be that damsel in distress. There's no shame in needing a little help now and then. A Successful Mission: Congratulations! You met up with your first Nightmare, and you fought valiantly. You even mastered that tricky power of yours! As if in response to your masterful victory, you feel as though you've unlocked a new power. What sort of power did you get? Is it a useful one, or is it not so useful? Maybe you've mastered it beautifully, and now you're showing off to all of your friends. Maybe you're having a hard time keeping it under wraps, and now you're wreaking havoc across the town without meaning to! A Dreadful Nightmare: You had an absolutely horrid day. As you drift off to sleep, your mind dwells on all the injustices you've had to endure. In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. What sort of Nightmare are you? What kind of Nightmarescape do you create? Hopefully your fellow magi can stop you before you cause too much damage! Wildcard: Feel free to use any information from the FAQ or the World Info page to make your own prompt! |
Personal Improvement
well, ok, just knock anyways. Force of habit!]
H-hi, you're Dr. Quinn, right?
no subject
Doctor Quinzel actually. But you're welcome to call me whatever you're most comfortable with. Harleen, Harley, Doctor Q, i'm not terribly picky.
[ She felt a little rusty playing the role of "Nice normal innocent doctor." but having glasses and a white coat helped her stay in character.]
And you are?
no subject
[Hey, honest mistake!]
I'm Madoka Kaname.
no subject
[ Can't blame her really.]
A pleasure to meet you Miss Kaname. Please have a seat wherever you like.
[There are a pair of tall backed leather chairs directly in front of her desk, then off to the side is a cozy looking fainting couch, and in the corner there is a giant poofy looking pillow that is clearly meant to lounge upon. Harley loves to give her guests options.]
How can I help you today?
no subject
[Yup, pillow it is. She nevertheless carefully sits, crossing her legs.]
I guess I'm here for a consultation on what you do...I think if I didn't come on my own a lot of people would have asked me to come anyways.
no subject
Well that just means they care about you. And in my opinion though I may be biased, everyone could use a nice chat with a professional once in awhile..
[Taking a piece of candy for herself she unwraps it.]
Would you like something to drink? I have just about everything I could carry back from the store. I wanted to be prepared.
no subject
[She takes a piece of candy.]
Ah, if you have tea, I'd be fine. I...I know a lot of people care about me, and I care for them, too.
no subject
We have some of the instant tea from the store, or if you'd like a cold tea I have some bottles of iced tea in the fridge.
[Leaning on the counter with a knowing smile she studies the girl carefully.]
That's always nice to hear. You know not all girls your age really think that much about anything outside of their own little worlds. But you like to think about others huh?
no subject
[She blinks at the smile.]
Of course! I care for everyone I've met here. Why wouldn't I?
no subject
[She starts the tea and then sits on the edge of her desk taking another piece of candy.]
Let's answer it with a question. Do you care about me?
And follow up: Why?
no subject
[What a strange question.]
Because I know you.
no subject
[ A playful wink.]
We've only just met. I could secretly be a terrible person. Why waste your time and energy caring for people you don't know more then a passing introduction?
no subject
Someone who's a magi must have some good in them to make a wish that brings them here, right?
no subject
What I do know is, even bad people make wishes. And there are some bad people who should never be given that chance.
[ She sounds ominous and serious for a moment but the smile warms as a beep lets her know it's time to put in the tea. She moves back over to the kitchenette.]
What about non-Magi? Do you care for all of them with the same passion?
no subject
[She looks down at her hands.]
I know some people probably find that annoying. But I can't help it. I...I feel like I have to...?
no subject
[She brings over a coffee mug with the words " Madam Macabre's house of wax and murder museum. Coney Island New York." It's steaming with soothing tea. Not the best tea ever but it'll do.]
Why do you think it would annoy people?
no subject
Sometimes I wonder some people find me annoying. A lot of the magi here seem really confused and surprised that I do the things I do...
no subject
Most people who act that way have super powers to back it up. But I'm guessing you weren't a superhero back home?
[Taking a seat on her desk again she sips from a can of soda with a picture of strawberries on it.]
So what kind of things have you done?
no subject
[At this, her eyebrows crease.]
...I'm not sure about back home. About what I was doing. The only things I'm really positive about with what I remember...are from the past six months.
no subject
A sort of amnesia?
[ Like the best soap operas ever! And also one particular situation in Harley's own life.]
Would you mind telling me more about that?
no subject
[She trailed off, looking more uncertain.]
...Except...I don't know if that's true anymore. Its like...my mind says, "you were in America for 3 years when your mama's job transferred her there", and everything seems to back that up. I was a transfer student and everything. But...when I was here I couldn't tell anyone where I'd lived or...anything...for those three years. I...don't remember a single thing about it!
...It was like...everything was in place, and nothing had really changed...but I felt...out of place. Like nothing about me was right even if everything seemed so...
no subject
Well it's not unusual for teenagers to have a feeling of things being out of place or off balance, but it sounds to me like this is something meddling with you on a larger scale.
I dunno if I can help with that but I'll be happy to try at least. How concerned are you with what you can't remember? Do you feel like it's important?
no subject
But...it all seems to connect to magi, somehow.
no subject
[The doctor took another candy to unwrap it and balanced it on her upper lip while she thought, watching the treat till she was cross eyed. She was letting her guard down so to speak.]
Now speaking from my expertise, repressed memories are often the brains way of dealing with something particularly traumatic. If something terrible happened to you while you were being a Magi back home this could be how you instinctively tried to cope with it.
[She tilts her head slightly letting the candy fall into her mouth and chewing it with a crunch.]
So the next question is...if that's the case do you really wanna find out what that hypothetical terrible thing might be?
no subject
[Traumatic? Its true, a few of the things she recalls. The death, the powerful cogs.]
But...of course I want to know! The more I try to think about the memories I have from back home, the less real they feel. Things I should know, its...its all blank or...or just...full of holes!
