If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish... Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out. Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions. Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all? Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel! As you drift off to sleep, your mind dwells on all the injustices you've had to endure. In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. Aw, jeez. You're really gonna make this tough on yourself, aren'tcha?

[ The swordfighter rests a hand against the pommel of her sword, leaning forward to examine the miniscule nightmare skittering around the floor. It's sort of pitiful, really. Just... a sad little dog-type creature that'd be cute, if it wasn't currently trying to bite at her shoes and skittering away whenever she tried to stick it with the pointy end. Now she was just waiting for it to get close enough to, like, step on it.

Oh well. ]

Man... You'd think being a superhero would mean less homework.

[ Sayaka heaves a sigh, resting her hands behind her head as she struts down the street, trying valiantly not to think about the pointlessness of doing homework from a school for weirdos like that. ]

Did you happen to catch what he was saying in that last lesson there? It sort've sounded like he was speaking in reverse.

Beats me. That guy's so boring I always end up falling asleep during his lessons.

It does feel a little strange to still be doin' stuff like this after everything... School, friends, part-time jobs. It's a whole different world, but it's like nothing at all has changed.

Yeah.

[She folds her arms behind her head.]

There's a pretty big disconnect, that's for sure. It sort of makes all of the other stuff we do hard to get into. I mean... when you're out night after night, just trying to stay alive...

[She pauses, like she's trying to work through her own thoughts and think of the best way to express herself.]

I dunno. It's like the rest of it doesn't feel real anymore.

Yeah...

[ Sayaka scratches her head, giving a glance around and then sighing. ]

Sometimes it feels like all we're doing is playing pretend. Going to school, hanging out... It's just, how do you go back to doing the normal stuff when you're trying to save the world night after night? Those anime always made it look so simply.

[ While she wasn't necessarily as into the lessons here as she was before, Ryoko at least made an effort to listen in class. Is she cursed to always be stuck in a class with someone who couldn't make the grade on their own? ]

Even heroes need an education, Miki-san. If I were to help you, what would you really learn from it?

I'd learn what a wonderful and reliable friend you are, Asakura-san!

[ Sayaka spins around, giving a salute to the girl a few paces behind her. ]

Besides! You scratch my back, I scratch yours - think about all the cool team up moves we can do if we're not bogged down by all this dumb extra work!

You know, if you applied even a fraction of time you spend thinking about that kind of thing to your classwork, you wouldn't be in this mess.

[ Ryoko gave a small sigh, folding her arms a bit. ]

Do you really find it that hard to juggle both studying and fighting?

I just feel bad if I head home before dawn. The second it starts getting dark out I want to be on those streets makin' sure everybody's okay.

[ Sayaka shrugs. ]

So homework falls to the wayside is all.

With so many of us in town, you don't have to be out there every day. If you have a proper schedule, it'd be a lot easier on you.

[ Siiiigh. How could she be so okay with that? ]

It can't be helped then. Being the reliable friend I am, I'll start helping you with your school work. [ Is she teasing?! ] You should know right away, I won't accept you falling behind in your studies. Magi or not.

[ Giving a laugh, shaking her head. ]

Jeez, Ryouko. You're really the class prez type, arentcha?

I just believe in that old expression-- a mind is a terrible thing to waste. If you keep neglecting your classes, you'll turn into a delinquent.

[ Though she's joking, for the most part. ]

Being a delinquent Magi wouldn't be a good fit for you, Miki-san. Not at all.
