TEST DRIVE MEME.
![]() Prompts Arrival: So you've just arrived in Nyoi-Cho. Congratulations! You must be so excited about having your wish granted. Or maybe you're upset that the result wasn't quite what you expected? If that's the case, then that's too bad! There are no take backs and no redoes, so you're stuck with what you have! Maybe you should have been more careful about how you worded that wish... Oh well. There's no use in dwelling on it. You're a magi now, and that means adjusting to a whole new lifestyle! Maybe one of the townspeople can help you out. Only... they're acting a bit strangely, aren't they? They're all too happy to show you around, but there's something unsettling about the way they're behaving. Almost cheerfully dissonant. Any questions about the history of the town are met with blank stares and brief silence, before they plaster a smile onto their faces and change the subject. Any attempts to tell them about your duties as a magi or anything else that relates to the magical will get similar reactions. Isn't there anyone normal here that you can talk to at all? Home Improvement: The houses that the magi are given access to really are something, aren't they? There's almost no limit to what they can do! Why don't you create the house of your dreams, or maybe recreate and relive your favorite childhood scenes? Invite some spectators over to marvel! A Corrupted Soul Gem: You neglected to take care of your soul gem, and now you don't feel quite yourself anymore. You feel like you're losing your sense of self - all you seem to be able to focus on is your old regrets and past failures. What's happening to you? A Day in the Life: Everyday hero by day, magician by night! You've got a busy day ahead of you and no time to waste! Maybe it's school, or maybe it's work, maybe it's both! Being magical doesn't make you exempt from paying those shopping bills! May Day: Uh-oh. This magical girl stuff looked easier on TV. You're in some serious trouble! Or maybe you see someone else who is! It's time to pull up your socks and show them what you have. Be the hero you've always wanted to be, or give in and be that damsel in distress. There's no shame in needing a little help now and then. A Successful Mission: Congratulations! You met up with your first Nightmare, and you fought valiantly. You even mastered that tricky power of yours! What sort of power did you get? Is it a useful one, or is it not so useful? Maybe you've mastered it beautifully, and now you're showing off to all of your friends. Maybe you're having a hard time keeping it under wraps, and now you're wreaking havoc across the town without meaning to! A Dreadful Nightmare: You had an absolutely horrid day. As you drift off to sleep, your mind dwells on all the injustices you've had to endure. In response, your bed swallows you up, and your room shifts into a horrific Nightmarescape. What sort of Nightmare are you? What kind of Nightmarescape do you create? Hopefully your fellow magi can stop you before you cause too much damage! Wildcard: Feel free to use any information from the FAQ or the World Info page to make your own prompt! |
Rika Furude | Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
[Rika was torn still over the state of her wish, she said it in a bout of grief over another failed timeline- another game she had lost terribly. She agreed to it quickly, before Hanyuu could say anything. But- but she was here so that meant that her wish came true right? The Miracle happened that let everyone survive and thrive. For everyone to get their happy ending.
It was a selfish wish of hers, she was painfully tired of having to keep on living that same June over and over. It was a selfless wish of hers, because she had reached the point where she had wanted everyone else to be happy- even if she wasn't with them. She swept off the steps to her new home.
It was a small home, but still it felt so empty without Sakoto or Hanyuu with her. Inside was stocked with all her favorite foods, even her favorite wine- which she didn't expect to see here. This house was everything she could have wanted right? She had games inside, but...she didn't have her friends with her. She swept some imaginary dust off her step and wondered how to introduce herself to everyone here. In Hinamizawa everyone knew everyone, and now- now she knew what it felt like to be the new kid.]

Spotting a girl on the younger side of the age scale made her smile thoughtfully. At least here she didn't have to worry about trying to protect every kid around her age or younger. She offered a nod in greeting.
"Sup."
no subject
Hello there! [She stopped sweeping and rested the broom against the wall. She pranced over to the other girl and bowed polietly.] It is very nice to meet you, I'm Rika Furude. [This felt odd, yet exciting, to actually introduce herself to someone instead of being introduced. A wonderfully new experience in this new world.]
no subject
[Sandy bowed in return but it was stiff, clearly she wasn't used to that motion. But she was trying to be polite.]
Are you new to the uh...neighborhood?
[She glances around as if only just realizing all the magical girls houses look the same form the outside. Pretty creepy.]
no subject
I like it here so far! Its my first time away from home. [It was odd to say that. She tried to scour her memories of a time when she might have left Hinamizawa for longer than a day trip.]
Miiii I should have found gifts to bring my neighbors and introduced myself.
no subject
I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone knows you only come here with the clothes on your back basically so no one expects gifts. It's still really nice of you to think about us though. If anything we ought to be thanking you for showing up since we're all in this together.
no subject
We all have wishes right? [She kept her tone light] So we are fighting for them! [She brought her hands up, like she was going to cheer Sandy on.] Keep on fighting! We'll win!
[And with that she brought a hand up in the air. Sandy must have made a wish too, something she was willing to go to a whole new world for. It must be just as hard for her as it was for Rika. So much like home, Rika was more than willing to keep on being cheerful for her too.]
What do you like to do here?
no subject
Yeah we will!
[As for what she liked to do...]
Well I go to school, and then I got a job delivering stuff around town, groceries and stuff you know? But when I have free time I usually like to read, or make arts and crafts you know?
How about you? What did you used to do back home? Maybe we can do it here.
no subject
[Rika let out the small cheer to join in the optimism.]
I would go to school also, I was a part of the game club. I would also help out with town meetings, and I would also take care of the shrine. [A pause]
Would you like to play a game? We could invite people over and I can meet everyone!
no subject
Sure! I'd love to play a game. I haven't played anything other then cards in a long time. Do you have some? I think we could go buy some if you don't I've got some money.
no subject
I have a few games inside, would you like to come inside? [and with a few jump-skips she made it to her door and opened it for the two of them. One could already see it was a small area, a kitchenette to one side, to the other side a dresser and a chabudai sitting in the center of the room with a small bottle of soy sauce on it.
The room was very plain save for a few decorations and some of the games Rika had pulled out to look at. It was less of home for a little girl and more of a home of a poorer older person. The entire style of the home was old, heck was the telephone still had a cord attached to it!
This was by choice of course. She still couldn't find it in her, even in this new world, to live in a home like the one she spent the first eight years of her life in. ]
I can get us some drinks and crackers too.
[Rika didn't wait for a response as she took off her shoes and headed inside.]
no subject
Thanks! You're super polite.
[ She offers a beaming smile and then stops short to take off her shoes as well leaving her in a pair of striped toe socks. With how polite Rika was Sandy knew she had to introduce her to Madoka. The two girls would probably get along like a very sweet house on fire.]
Is this like your house from your world?
no subject
Please make yourself at home. [She set the plate of snacks on the center of the table.] How long have you been here?
no subject
Ah, a month or so, almost two months. Before this place I spent about three years in another world. And before that I was in my own world. New York City if you've heard of it.
[It still felt so impossible to Sandy there were people who hadn't, but traveling between universes made plenty of things possible.]
no subject
I come from Hinimizawa in Japan.
[So of course New York would pop up a lot in conversation. Rika frowned a little when she saw how Sandy looked down at the food. She had seen what it was like for people to want food again after so long. How whne they do have food they would treat it as something to hoard. She had an idea.]
Have you ever had Japanese snacks? If you want I can make some for you to sample during the games we play.
[As for that other world comment- she must have made the wish there to arrive here. It would make no sense for her wish to take her to the other world then here. Rika could only imagine what it may have been like, and figured if Sandy wanted to talk about it, she would. But right now, it might be best to keep things light and let Sandy dictate how the time together went.]
no subject
[Stories from other worlds, other Japans, other worlds. It was a lot for adults to handle but kids always seemed so much more willing to believe. But Sandy hadn't caught on yet that Rika was much more perceptive then most kids. At the offer of even more food she blushed realizing she'd been caught again.]
E-eh heh heh...I wouldn't want to be a trouble...but that does sound good. And maybe I can treat you next time?
[ That made her feel a little less guilty, but it was true. Sandy had never known true hunger until the last world she'd been in and after that she hardly ever could turn down free food. It had gotten her in trouble more then a few times.]
Actually I think they sell some Japanese snacks and drinks in town...I mean I've never seen them before except for those bottles with the marbles in them you know? They used to sell those at the mini-mart near my house back in New York.
no subject
Its no trouble, after all, it is a good time to have a nice meal. Besides, its feels like a bit of a sleepy day. Perhaps you can find a game you would like to play. [Drink with marble in it-]
Ramune! Its really nice during the summer. [Needless to say, she was sick of drinking it.] Maybe we can go shopping and find out too. [she was making a mental list. Madoka-Japanese girl with pink hair and large eyes, Sandy's other world, the matching homes of magical girls.]
What was it like in New York?
[Rika already started to gather ingredients for the meal. Miso was a given, she one time read foreigners most preferred tempura, salad and rice. Sandy seemed like she would be willing to talk, and perhaps this would also allow her to get more information on the world here.]
And how are you doing here?
no subject
[And she really would. She'd explain why soon after but the idea of getting to see the world had been eating at her for years and years. She blushes red when Rika pats her head and looks grateful for the contact. Despite how paranoid she was sometimes physical contact when affectionate was always cherished.
Taking the time to look through Rika's collection Sandy listened and agreed sounding more pleased with each suggestion.]
New York was...wet. It rained a lot so I hardly ever was totally dry. And even when it wasn't raining there were always clouds. I didn't see proper sunshine or snowy winters until I was in another world.
People were as gloomy as the weather too. The city had split itself off from the rest of the United States out of fear and took away peoples rights. Strict curfew, even stricter police.
[Her voice is softer when she talks about her home world, not sad but...nostalgic.]
Dad used to tell me stories of old New York. Before everyone was afraid, there were heroes. People with amazing powers that would fight to protect the weak. Good and evil doing battle in the streets and every day there was hope that things could get better.
But my New York didn't have any of that. And believe it or not? It was still better then the world I got pulled to.
[ She took a deep breath and let it out not realizing how tight she'd been gripping the box she'd been holding. She set it down slowly and hoped Rika wouldn't notice the wrinkles in the cardboard where her fingers had almost torn through.]
Things are better here...there are Nightmares to fight yes but...we have powers to fight them. And we can work together and don't have to hide who we are or who we were. Here I can go to school...work sometimes and I don't have to feel like I'm always being watched or like someone could take everything away from me for no reason.
[But the nightmares...well she couldn't escape those no matter how many worlds she moved to it seemed.]
no subject
Miiiii Thats a very scary feeling. After feeling that way for a long time, it may feel like it sometimes happens again.
[Sandy's New York was different, she had never heard of heroes defending the weak unless it was in comic books- or prehaps the rare times when she saw someone stand up against fate.]
But, I am happy for you that you're now in a better place, but I am sad that you were in a bad place to begin with. And it is sad about the heroes.
[Salads were put into bowls and then put into the fridge to stay crisp while Rika worked on the rest of the meal.]
It must be hard work hiding who you really are or who you were. But, How was it? Seeing sunshine for the first time? And snow too. [She shut her eyes for a moment, remembering the last time she saw snow. Hinamizawa would have terrible winters, but it made for some fun things.]
Sometimes thinking about the little things can help make it through the bad things. Like school! Are you in any clubs? And do you only do the delivery?
no subject
Snow was...not so great. It was better the second time closer to christmas. Sunshine was nice once the snow and ice were gone the first time.
The first time I saw them both was scary...I didn't know what to do. I would have died a lot faster but some people were looking out for me.
Later when I was in The Capitol...this huge city I lived in for a few years...it was much nicer. Warm and gentle. And the snow was soft and fluffy when Christmas came.
[Three Christmases wasted in another world. Maybe this year would be better.]
Ah school! Well I haven't really thought about clubs...but that might be fun. Delivery is the only job I have right now though. Just you know...for food money and stuff.
no subject
Dying doesn't sound like fun at all. But I am glad people were looking out for you. Did you go to school in the Capitol? And maybe we can make some clubs at school.
no subject
Y-yeah, it's not. I've had enough of them to know for sure.
We did go to school yeah. A lot of it was like, them trying to make us think the way they thought usually not good.. But some of it was actually worthwhile like math and science and stuff. And we got to go on field trips that were a lot of fun.
no subject
And I liked school mostly for my friends.
no subject
[But somehow Rika made it easier. She was just so...understanding.]
Well there's plenty of good friends here. I mean...probably. I only know a few so far but they seem like good people. And if you like games I bet we can find lots of people to play with you know?
